May. 3rd, 2006 10:53 pmMm, I just have a question, I'm going to cosplay Orochimaru for Otakon, and thought I should get a bit of a head start on my costume. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas for hw to get that stupid obi to work? :O
Any help would be greatly appreciated ^__^;

Date: 2006-05-04 02:52 pm (UTC)Do it in sections.
One to go around your waist,
One for the loops of the bow,
One for the straight ends of the bow,
and a short one to hold them all together.
When laid out flat, the seam should go about 2" from the fold of the fabric. That way it doesn't come out looking ridiculously huge. Sew one end and the long side seam, turn, stuff, turn in the open end, and stitch along there.
So far, that's as far as I've gotten with revamping my friend's Orochimaru belt, since before...it was just cringe-worthy. I'm not quite sure how to get all the pieces to stay where you want them, possibly safety pins, snaps, or hand-stitch some velcro. Since I haven't gotten that far, I don't really have any advice yet for it.

Date: 2006-05-04 07:59 pm (UTC)But, I had no help on my first run with it...I just tried what I could do with barely any sewing talent....I learned that liquid stitch is your friend when seaming the belts, if you cannot sew. The problem with mine was that it was made too big. Make sure it's made to fit your specifications.. ^_^ Other than that, I don't have much advice to give..
