After reading the chapter a few times, I think I can start discussing it. :P

If I understood correctly, Sasuke only hanged around Naruto so that a bond would form between them, and so he would be able to kill him in the end to get more power? I hadn't caught that at first. That's what I just understood, and I think it's highly unlikely. He's thinking up lame excuses XD He probably doesn't know why himself.

I'm so surprised and amazed that Naruto can keep his cool like this right now. And even answer Sasuke properly, without going all Kyuubi insane. At the mention of Sasuke by Orochimaru he grew four tails, but now he's in front of Sasuke, and he's saying he'll kill him, and he barely moves or makes a sound. Maybe he's under shock? XD Nah, he's just grown a lot and is able to control himself. Yay, Naruto. ♥

I think it's also clear that Sasuke is trying to provoke Naruto. And also seems to be completely ignoring Sakura. I don't know what to make of that. :/ It all seems a bit...weird. Fake. I mean, how Sasuke is behaving. He's almost like Sai was, with no emotions D:

Seems like they'll be fighting, then. :o I just hope this won't drag off and and never end. I'd love some kind of twist from Kishimoto's part.

id go for the in-control part. though im very aware of the fierce scowl in naruto's face w/c tells that he's getting mad. again (boy, that temper is going to be the end of you one day) but at least he's keeping himself in check now.

He just lost it when orochi called sasuke 'ours' because he's mad at orochi for 'taking' sasuke away from them. i think he's in control because he's als o thinking and this moment is some kind of a continuation of what they have left in the valley. and no, its not shock. he's just being eerily patient.

and he's not ignoring sakura. its just that, its all focused on them, naruto and sasuke. its naruto's bond that he does not break, right, meaning he did break himself from everything and everyone including kakashi and sakura. because he thinks he wants to have the magenkyou. not to mention the twist his brother had made on his mind. (the hate thing) i do hope that its still repairable.

You're pretty much right. I'm still a little shaken, good new Naruto chapters do that to me, lmfao.

Yeah, he is getting mad. But it's still amazing that he can control it all. After what Sasuke says especially. It shows he's grown a lot, because pre timejump!Naruto would already have exploded.

The not ignoring Sakura is true, too. This is really about the two, because for some reason Sasuke didn't cut his bonds with Naruto entirely yet. I think that's important, because he's eager for power, and his one goal in life is to murder his brother, and yet he wasn't able to kill Naruto to get the magenkyou. If he was that keen on vengence, he would have done it. I think what Itachi did to him is repairable, but it would take either a lot of time, and patience.

It's a rare moment when Sasuke doesn't ignore Sakura, especially when there could be fighting involved. Which may be an advantage, seeing that Sasuke probably doesn't know how much Sakura has grown in her fighting skills, though I doubt she could match Sasuke (or Naruto, for that matter) in a fight.

The only thing I'm really understanding about Sasuke, is he is trying to make up excuses and reasons for behaviours in the past that he obviously feels contradicts his goal in life (*die itachi, die!*) as well as his current attitude. Or at least that is what it seems. It feels that he is still trying to prove himself to Naruto, which in itself seems to me to be some kind of bond...but of course they don't have any of that *insert sarcasm*.

As for Naruto not freaking out, it's probably from shock. But it also it probably b.c going Kyuubi wouldn't help him get Sasuke back, or at least he doesn't think it will. He wants to get Sasuke to return on his own volition, or so it seems, but Naruto doesn't have a problem dragging his butt back either. And it does seem that the fighting will be inevitable, and I don't really mind it b.c we get to see some of Sasuke's new skills, but, like you, I really hope they don't drag it out.

My prediction: Sakura will jump inbetween the boys at some point during the fight (like she has in the past) to try and stop them. What will happen, I don't know. (I can wish for certain things but I don't want to offend actual Sakura fans.)



Um, so maybe I missed it in earlier chapters, but have we always known Sai was to assassinate Sasuke? B.c I didn't know this & it seems most people are ignoring that it was mentioned. Or are we to assume that it's possible Sai isn't telling the truth again?

Yes! I can totally see that. He's trying to justify things and find excuses for what he's done. But he REALLY doesn't need to, at least I don't think so. I'm also sure Sasuke doesn't actually feel no more link to Naruto whatsoever. He's probably convinced himself that he has indeed cut himself from him, but from the way he's behaving, that's not what it looks like.

It was explained in chapter 305, I think! Sai's primary mission was indeed to kill Sasuke, but he's changed his mind now, because Naruto can change anyone. :D

Uhh it was brought up a chapter or so back. I forget. That was Sai's real mission that Danzou sent him on. I forget why because I didn't care. I stopped paying attention to Sai when he did a 180 for no apparent reason other than shoddy script writing.

Sasuke's lying. Lying~. Whim, my ass. He's been separated from Naruto for a couple years now, so he feels he's got a handle on his emotions and possibly can really kill Naruto now. But we all know how hard it was for him the first time -- his face screamed turmoil the entire time -- and because Naruto has a penchant for bringing up all the things Sasuke's not going to want to think about or remember, you can bet Naruto will get under his skin again at some point. Sasuke you're not a big bad Uchiha like your brother. Stop pretending like you are.

Naruto's just waiting for Sasuke to make the first move. He's definitely got his emotions reigned in (for Naruto). He's weak anyway, and he knows it. He's going to be on the defense for this fight, so really all he can do is try to talk some sense into Sasuke -- and we know how much that's going to work.

Did he ever pay much attention to her in the first place? o.O Yeah, he spoke to her and stuff... but I don't think she really got Sasuke's attention. Sakura got a lot more attention from Naruto, I think.

Anyway, I think Sasuke is full of crap, with the whole "save you on a whim, kill you on a whim" thing. I don't think sitting above Naruto and staring at him for goodness knows how long and then walking away was a "whim" decision. That's just the lie he's told himself for the past 2 1/2 years.

Well, he didn't really, but she had an impact on her when she spoke to him before he left. I'm sure he cared about her, especially considering he risked his life once or twice to protect her. He, of course, doesn't share the same bond with her than Naruto, it's weaker, but still. He barely adknowledges her, which kind of says he hasn't grown much, or changed.

He's been convincing himself of things that are completely wrong, I can't wait for them to backslash at his face. :P I'd love for Naruto to say something that would affect him greatly and make him realise some of the lies he's been telling himself, but he's way too stubborn for that.

It's obvious to everyone, I think, that Sasuke is lying. Emo and Denial are his best friends. He's their whore plain and simple.

As for Naruto, he can't turn Kyuubi. Yamato said a few chapters back that he was going to surpress that ability. I'll agree that he's calmer, though. I think a lot of it has to do with what happened when he did lose control. He hurt Sakura. He doesn't want to do that again.

The arm hold was Sasuke making sure that Naruto couldn't escape, I think. Surely he's learned the art of mind rape by now- he had Itachi and Orochimaru as teachers in that =\ He's provoking Naruto while physically blocking him so that whatever blow he plans to unleash upon our dear hero won't be blocked. doesn't a quick, swift attack just seem so...un-Sasuke. Maybe it's proof of how much he's changed over the years away, but against Naruto, it would seem he would prefer to show off his strengths. Hrm, for some reason I don't think that. His arm is relaxed on Naruto's shoulder and his hand isn't even holding onto him. As you said, I think he's provoking Naruto and just doing the "Ha, look how cool I am, I can friggin GET THIS CLOSE TO YOU and you could do NOTHING ABOUT IT! >:D" Except more emotionless and such. XD

Hmm, I reallly REALLLY hope that this doesn't turn into a long fight. I hate long fights, I'd like to see Sakura stop it before they even start. Sakura has grown so much, she needs to show Sasuke what she's made of I think.

All the stuff Sasuke is saying? Lies. I really don't think that's his real story/how he feels. He's had two and a half years to come up with stuff, so it should be believable. But I'd be really let down if things don't turn out with him being good and them going to defeat the Sound and blahblahblah. Because I'm sappy and I think that the good prevail, and Sasuke still has some good in him, I know it...

I just hope that Kishimoto doesn't dissapoint us and he gives us a good plot for this little arc. :\

Sasuke is quite obviously BSing everything he's saying. It's very in-character, too; he's certainly not the type to actually admit he cares about his friends. Instead, he does the exact opposite, and pretends as if they mean nothing to him.

In Naruto's case, Sasuke tells him that he spared him "on a whim," which takes away the one thing Naruto wants most from Sasuke--acknowledgment.

And Sasuke has every reason to ignore Sakura, considering:

First, from what I recall, she hasn't actually said anything yet.

More importantly, if he snapped at her and said, "You're annoying," or something to that effect, then that would be just like the old Sasuke, which is exactly who Sasuke doesn't want to seem like at this time.

Considering how much Sasuke's tried to distant himself from Naruto and Sakura, it makes perfect sense for Sasuke to act like a bastard during this first meeting, because it will discourage them from trying to "rescue" him again.

Well, if he truly is implying that, then it's definitely BS. At the start of the series, Sasuke tried his absolute hardest to isolate himself and push others away--which is why he acted like a jerk to anyone who got within 10 feet of him. And even when he was put in Team 7, he tried his hardest to convince himself that he didn't need his teammates and that he didn't really consider them comrades. If he had been faking it all along, there wouldn't have been so much internal conflict, period.

The extremely sad part to this is that before this chapter I drew a random doodle of Sasuke saying, "COME TO MY MANLY EMBRACE! xDDD" and now ... it looks freakin' canon. XD When I saw Sasuke put his arm on top of Naruto's shoulder, I'm like "He's halfway there to a hug. HOLY CRAP. XD"

If Naruto DOES hug Sasuke (GOD I SO WANT TO SEE THAT but the chances of happening are nil ;o;), I so want to see everybody do the WTF faces. XD The one with the circular eyes and blocky teeth! XD
