Okay. So, when Anko and those examiners see Gaara, they are immediately in shock and awe! The sand trio has completed the forest in such a short amount of time, and the red-haired kid is unscathed! Gasp gasp, so amazing!

But waaait a minute. Team Eight not only got their scroll quicker, but they got to the tower first too! Why no applause and fanfare? And they weren't attacked by anyone; they caught their people by surprise! Also, weren't Temari and Kankuro unscathed too? All they did was stand behind Gaara and explain how strong he was to us!!
I mean, I know Gaara's super special, and this had to be gotten across to the world, but... Wtf, yo.

The Team 8/Team Gaara meeting at the tower never happened in the manga, at least as far as I can remember. I was all "WTF" when that came up on the dub, too.

It's really annoying, because sometimes they get things right. Adding to the Haku story? Loved it. I cried more in the anime. But then they get things so very wrong.

Yeah, but thankfully, Kishimoto doesn't seem to be including the anime as part of his canon. Word is that he's actually quite miffed about it.

I'd be miffed to, since a lot of strong moments in the manga were watered down. And what if Anko's back story plays a part in the manga and the back story is all wrong.

I figured that the Sand team got their first and that team 8 showed up after, but that moment when they cross paths is just that-- the first time they know that they are all in the tower together. The Sand team was waiting and probably wandering around for sometime, while 8 had just arrived.

My roomate figured that the Sand Team finished, and then went back out into the field so Gaara could kill people just for fun. It doesn't really make any sense considering some of the dialogue, but I'm personally fond of that theory.

I thought Gaara only killed for fun when he got really insane. Otherwise he picked targets (like Sasuke) to be his toys to prove his existance and then moved on.

Well, in the anime when Team 8 saw the Sand Team, Gaara WAS killing people just for the heck of it, so sequentially it makes sense. *shrug*

I didn't pay much attention to Gaara until he grew batshit insane after the Lee-Gai thing so I forget about what he was like before then.
