Jutsu and the ninja body
May. 28th, 2006 01:35 pmJust some random questions that popped into my head while discussing Naruto with my friends this weekend.
1. Ok, if Sasuke is now inside Naruto's head/soul (wherever Kyuubi and him chill), what's going on with Sasuke's real body in the outside world. We know that Naruto only communicates with Kyuubi whenever he's unconscious, and as the chapter showed, Sasuke's last attack probably sent him into such a state. We also know that in other examples of jutsu used to enter another's soul/body, the user is typically rendered unconscious in the real world, such as what happens when Ino uses her jutsu. However, when Itachi performs his mangekyou sharingan, his self manages to manifest itself in another person to torment them. Then again, this could just be read as the victim's imagination of their own torture and not actually involve Itachi at all. I think the latter is more likely since the effect of the sharingan would depend on what the victim most feared and would cause the most pain. Either way, whatever is going on in the real world, Sai and Sakura are still conscious (I think) and still jonesin' for a piece of Sasuke's ass (Sakura deserves it more by the way). So if Sasuke is in any manner incapicated by the jutsu he's using to communicate with Kyuubi and Naruto, they are in an ideal position to take advantage of it. I think Sasuke would know this and have some countermeasures in effect, but considering the jutsu, I'm unsure what these could be. I guess the main question is really the condition of Sasuke's body/mind outside of Naruto's.
2. Tsunade loses in her fight against Orochimaru/Kabuto. She gets her ass fairly well beat. I can partially understand this since Orochimaru is insanely powereful. I dislike that Kabuto does so much damage, considering his level, but he's special so that's neither here or there. The question here is that during the whole battle, Tsunade still retains her ideal age. There has to be jutsu involved in maintaining that appearance. Would she be more powerful were she to drop that jutsu? Is the jutsu permanent or it is something she must continuously work at so she's never truly at the peak of her power? I would think that if the latter is true, Tsunade would forfeit her appearance for the sake of giving her all against Orochimaru. I still don't know if she would win, but it would be more helpful to her village. It just made me see her as more selfish than usual (although I don't really mind her typical selfishness) when I thought that she was devoting chakra to something relatively meaningless when people were in serious trouble.
3. I had another one but I can't recall it right now. I think it had to do with the Uchiha and their relationship to the Kyuubi and whether this played any role in the Uchiha masacre at the hands of Itachi, which would contradict itself now that Itachi is after the Kyuubi, theoretically for his own use.

Date: 2006-05-28 06:52 pm (UTC)Actually, I think it may have been working to her advantage in that fight and in any other fight that might involve Orochimaru. They grew up together, and (to me) it's pretty obvious that at one point they cared for each other, if reluctantly so, due to their team status as children. Orochimaru, like Sasuke, wants to break the bonds to his past and find more power. Tsunade is a physical reminder that you don't have to break those bonds in order to find strength. She challenges Orochimaru's goals (in particular, his obsession with obtaining youth through another person) and, counting on the number of flashbacks and sudden recognition of bonds that are prevalent in this show, may be using her appearance in her favor. It's pretty easy to fight an old stranger. It's much harder to continue fighting someone who (somewhere deep down) you feel should be on your team.

I think her jutsu doesn't require much chakra, only when her chakra was almost entirely depleted did it flicker a bit. So it didn't affect the battle or anything.
#3 : What someone above said.

Date: 2006-05-29 09:28 pm (UTC)Tsunade is not weak she's just hemophobic. and its natural for a person suffering from phobias to freeze up and such. AND, the sennin are almost equal in strenght. and also, put in mind the snakeVSslugVSfrog. It's the slug that beats the snake. But I'm not saying that Tsunade's stronger than Orochi. I'm just stating that she's not to be viewed upon as weak. On the retaining of age, it was the seal she had developed in her wanderings (and preference as well) And besides, she is not fickle like that to use chakra in nonesense. Of course, the village will be prioritized above all. And, did you miss the anime or manga eposide that had Tsunade release the seal (the diamond in her forehead) when they're fighting Orochimaru? She DID that to protect Konoha. She says so.
