I'll put this under a cut just because it contains spoilers for chapter 306+

and... don't read it if you're a sasuke-fan

Does anyone else besides me think that the manga's focussing a lot on Sasuke? I understand that there are two distinct villian groups in  the series - Orochimaru and his subordinates, and the Akatsuki. But it seems like Naruto and Sakura are so obsessed with Sasuke. I just don't see how he could ever return to Konoha. I mean... Sasuke betrayed everyone...  and when Konoha finally finds him... he's no different. He's arrogant, shows no emotion, and has absolutely NO interest in returning to his home town. Why is Sasuke such a freaking big deal? Orochimaru left Konoha a long time ago. Jiraiya mentions having faught with him and then later tailing him... but why is Sasuke so important to Konoha right now that they even let Sakura and Sasuke get anywhere near Orochi's lair? Can't they just forget about Sasuke?!

Does anyone else feel like Sasuke should just leave the manga forever? He's really angering me. I wish that Kishimoto would focus more on the Akatsuki. Honestly I think that's a MUCH bigger threat to Konoha and the entire ninja world in general. Yea... Sasuke used to be a "good friend," but why don't Sakura and Naruto... AFTER TWO AND A HALF YEARS... realize that he's totally changed? It's not like Sasuke can get the crap beaten out of him and then be all like "oh you guys are right after all, let me return my years with Orochimaru and come back and live happily in Kohoha with you guys"

I don't know. Maybe I'm exagerating or something... but I'm just really tired of Sasuke already and he's only been around for 3 chapters. I already can't stand him. He's so arrogant and egotistical "look how special my sword is" Ya know what? I hope he gets his sharingans stabbed out.  and... i bet you he still can't beat Itachi.

Kishimoto has publically stated that Sasuke is his favorite character. You'll just have to grin and bear it, I'm afraid.

Sasuke is Naruto's most important person because of their interactions when they were younger and when they got put on the same team. He's also the only person Naruto hasn't "saved." He's also Kishimoto's favorite character. xD

As for whether or not Sasuke can beat Itachi... I fully believe that the Itachi thing will be resolved when the manga ends. However, Sasuke being stronger than Itachi at 15 is kind of.... eh. Maybe there will be another time skip or something, because honestly, I just don't see how the Naruto characters can challenge Akatsuki members at this point. Then again, Sakura and whatshername beat Sasori, so eh. Who knows.

Uhhh I don't understand why you tell Sasuke fans not to read this though. I mean, do you only want people to agree with you? =/

XD Even though you had warning, and I'm a Sasuke fan (due to personal -cosplay- reasons) I must say that I atleast respect your point-of-view. And if anything, I understand. Originally I never liked him as much, not sure why - but eh? After reading quite a ways in..I saw things were focused quite a bit on him, OR more of the Uchiha clan actually. I never thought much of it until you've said something now, strange.

On a slightly funnier note; a few friends and I had seen a flash animation a few months ago with a chibi Naruto rambling on about how much he hates Sasuke, by default, but he got to the point where he said that it shouldn't even be called 'Naruto' anymore "all the fangirls would go out and say, 'omg I just got the new volume of Sasuke *flail*'" XD rofl!

Well... yes and no.

Sure, he's appeared a lot, but that's because he's one of the most influential forces/characters in the manga. Naruto's putting his dream of becoming Hokage aside the "rescue" his ass... just think of it this way:
Without Sasuke, there would be no plot (or, rather, the plot would be much different. Sasuke's influence on Naruto is and has been huge throughout the series.)

As for Sasuke disappearing entirely from the manga... well that's absurd. His character is far to popular (and Kishimoto's fav).

And, yeah, he probably still can't take Itachi. (But he did attack Sai with a hand-sign-less genjustu, didn't he?) He's got potential and once Naruto uses his jesus powers we might see him on the side of good again. Yes, I'm an optimist when it comes to Sasuke.

Anyway, you're exactly right about all his character traits (and that's why I like him, as opposed to him being a flat "good guy" or "bad guy",) but he's so deeply woven into the plot that getting rid of him (killing him without resolution, for instance) would leave a gaping hole in the plot. And you're right, Naruto and Sakura are obsessed with him, but that's because this manga is all about the bond of friendship and all that. ^^ Even if he doesn't deserve their attention, they're going to give it to him.

You're right about Itachi pwning him as well-- I'm convinced that's going to be one of Sasuke's big character lessons. It'll be something like "You betrayed all your friends, but you haven't gotten any better for it..."

So, cheers. Hope they don't claw at you. I'm reasonable, but I can't say the same for fangirls. XD

One thing you have to take into account is the fact that, while Orochimaru has stayed away from Konoha so far, he's still a definite threat. And Sasuke is his ultimate weapon. Of course they're going to try to retrieve him.

well there's a lot of reasons for the whole SASUKELURV in the manga so I'll just make bullets XD(I swear I'm not being lazy >__>;;)

- Konoha needs Sasuke back so Orochimaru doesn't get the Sharingan; Orochimaru would be able to copy other jutsus easier. Imagine the what kind of power he could have. it's all strategy baby. hence the whole "send sai to kill sasuke" thing.

- Naruto and Sakura are only the closest people to Sasuke. Which would (i guess) bring a higher chance of him coming back? (I know totally naive)

- The naruto writers will probably intertwine Sasuke, Akatsuki, Orochimaru, and Naruto gang into this whole "plotastic mess". which is why (I believe) there will be no fight between [Naruto/ sakura/ sai...etc] because Orochimaru/ Kabuto will appear and get the hell out of there with Sasuke. Also, the next time we will see everyone together is at the "final battle" where there's a whole freakin free-for-all. But yea, don't quote me on that >__>;;

- Every great story needs an emo boy?

But yea honestly Sasuke is still here because I think he will probably lead into the confrontation with the Akatsuki.

And also, I am by no means a sasuke fan and I couldn't give three shits about him XD. I just like all the jokes about him.

Yeah I agree he's gotten more arrogant, but that's the way he's always been, even back in Konoha. I think it's just the way he's hardwired. Now that he's under Orochimaru's tutelage and has the curse seal and the Pikachu powers, plus he hasn't seen exactly how much Naruto and Sakura have improved in these few years because he's been living in isolation, he doesn't have a standard to compare himself with, and therefore will think of himself as, you know, Speshul.

Regarding focus between Sasuke and the Akatsuki, the manga is centred around Naruto's life after all. The Akatsuki is after Naruto, sure, but Team 7 has probably been the first notion of family Naruto has ever had, outside of Iruka, and comparatively, getting Team 7 back into one piece is definitely more important than the Akatsuki is right now. Naruto has been shown to give his all when it comes to people who are important to him/people whom he can feel for at the expense of his own life, and Sasuke definitely fulfils this criteria.

Boy still needs to get taught a lesson regarding Itachi, though :3 As well as about life in general. I can't say his attitude isn't annoying me right now, because it is, but I hope it's going to get straightened out soon. (Because it has to be, right? D:)

Dur. How is the manga focusing on Sasuke? You are completely exaggerating. I mean, he just came back into the picture so yeah he's goin to be in the spotlight a bit. There's been no Sasuke since the time skip, with strong focuses on Sakura, Naruto, Akatsuki etc FOR MONTHS so after three chapters you are already whining about "a focus on Sasuke"? Chill.

do you have a link to that one? i've seen something alike that, but then it was two flashes, one with naruto going on about how much he hates sasuke and one with sasuke telling that the series shoudl be named after him instead because he's so much better. if it's not the same ones we're thinking about, i'd very much like to see the one you know ^^

well... my opinion is that the manga centers around Naruto. And somewhat, Sasuke is Naruto's focus for the past 3, no, 2 and a half years. He's been training hard to get Sasuke back. So this is actually quite an important arc, concerning Naruto's mindset of hopes and dreams. Bringing Sasuke back is partly one of his dreams, and he himself has said, if he can't even bring his friend back to the right path, he is not fit to be Hokage (which is his lifelong and ultimate dream) I'm sure Akatsuki has its plans, they might go after the other Bijuu before coming for Naruto. As long as Naruto isn't in Konoha, Akatsuki will likely not attack Konoha, seeing as there are other strong nin in the village as well.

You know what? I dislike his arrogance and his inferior complex too XD Always have, even before the "Naruto I'm more special than you because I have wings and lipstick and look like Sonic the hedgehog" But what normal human doesn't want to feel more special when someone does better than them? XP
