Was with my mom today when she went to get her Chinese herbal medicine. We decided to go into a little Japanese store and well... of course, I saw...

Though I am surprised to find it here in Canada as I've never seen it anywhere else... like T&T xD!!!

The first thing that popped into my mind was, like, a bunch of guys with moustashes in overalls throwing fish at a wall and then going and scraping all the gooey stuff left over into a bucket.

One site I looked at described it as a "fish sausage with a pink pattern when cut," so I'm presuming that it's made the same way a normal sausage would be made. However that is. *not a fan of sausages* Grinding up and re-molding, I suppose.

I dunno where "fish paste" comes from, but where I come from it's kamaboko or fish cake. It's a garnish for noodle dishes, mainly ramen. It's the little spiral thing in the headband here.

Ahaha, last time I went to the grocery store I was soooo tempted to buy it. You know, just so I could eat... Naruto. Actually, all of the kamaboko I've eaten wasn't in spiral form :< So... I still haven't eaten ... Naruto... yet :D

But I wasn't about to finish an entire fishcake on my own, so I refrained.

Ahaha, when I was at Anime North, we brought a dozen of those ramen cups to eat. In them, they had teeny naruto! I fished one out and saved it (and was too chicken to eat it) but it was the cutest thing XD We were squeeing and giggling and fawning over it. And we took a lot of pictures ^_^
