Lovely chapter! I loved seeing the shy Sai. It made me laugh.

But...

Oh my god! Naruto's expressions! Just like when he was 12. I was really worried that he wouldn't make them ever again. He seemed to mature so much. But he still has the kid in him :D

That made the chapter for me. Thank God we had a little Naruto angst, it was noticeably absent from the last chapter. I wasn't even looking forward to this chapter after 310 but Kakashi's training idea has me intrigued again. :3!

So, any ideas on what this 'training' might be?

Probably more of a wish than a guess, but I was hoping 'hiraishin no jutsu'. While at the moment I can't remember all the fundamentals to the attack, but given Sasuke is like super speedy now, it would give them an advantage.

I know it being the Yondaime's little trick and all might sway some away, but come on, it was cool. It's a technique I wouldn't mind seeing again.

The only thing that's been puzzling me is that if this magical!omg!super!special!training can make Naruto surpass Kakashi, why didn't he give to him instead then of having Jiraiya take him away for 2.5 years???

Although I suppose that wouldn't cause any dramatic tension. Maybe Kakashi just invented it or something?

I think most of the the training Jiraya gave him was more like basic stuff. Developing an actual style or whatnot. I could be wrong.

Plus, the recent events could have put things into a different perspective. *shrugs* There's really no telling.

Plot device for the time jump? Cause it'd suck if there were still 12 o_o; The manga wouldn't be getting anywhere if they were still 12.

I always kind of assumed that the reason Jiraiya took Naruto off for those years wasn't just about training but was about Akatsuki. Itachi took down Kakashi fairly easily on his own (without Kisame being involved) but both Akatsuki were forced to make a strategic retreat (I prefer that term to 'run away') from Jiraiya; so I assumed it was more a safety issue.

i think jiraiya taught naruto the next 3 steps of learning Rasengan [if you remember, Jiraiya told naruto there was 6 steps, naruto only learned 3 of them, and Odama Rasengan [the attack used on 20%!itachi] i assume was the 4th. also jiraiya taught naruto " that jutsu " which must be the equivilant of sasuke's "that jutsu" on power levels. i bet Gamabunta respects naruto more now too. and also the kyubi seems to have formed a solid alliance with naruto! so i think naruto has learned a lot!

Other than that, I have no idea. Except that only Naruto being able to do it doesn't have to have anything to do with the Kyuubi. It could be his Jesus Powers too 8D *cough*

Joking aside, it could be anything. People place a lot of faith on Naruto- especially when it comes to Sasuke. Sakura said only Naruto could bring him back. Before then, Neji said that Naruto was the one who had to save him when he was in the barrel with the Sound Four. It could be Kakashi jumping onto the faith wagon O_o;

i bet that's just kagebushin. it makes so much sense. skilled kagebushin. i mean... think about it. kunai with the seal are markers of where he needs to use kage bushin. umm.. yeah! makes more sense than ridiculous super speed :D some dude over at gingerbox suggested it and it started making a lot of sense! i hope his training involves some sort of yondaime jutsu.

i just had a revelation. just kidding. someone i know just ranted on how Naruto can't just beat Kakashi, hehe. it made me suddenly think.

what if, the training would involve simulating Naruto and preparing for the Mangekyou Sharingan which he would inevitably experience when squaring off against either Sasuke or Itachi. this could mean Kakashi has developed the MS or some form of it! just my two cents, can't think of anything further...

this is probably the most realistic possibility we have so far. :\
