Icons and data books
Sep. 3rd, 2006 08:22 pmMe again! I completed my second set of icons (40 icons, plain character icons - 'cause it had to be done) in two days ^^ Have fun. The usual rules apply.
( Follow the road to the icon set... )
On another note, I'd like to mention the data books. I live in Japan right now, so I was able to pick these up for 571 yen each (which is roughly around 5.50USD each). I just bought them tonight, so I haven't had a chance to give them a proper look-over, but damn, is there lots of information. If I only had a scanner... T-T Sadly, my only scanner is back in the US. Anyway, the books are very pretty and incredibly useful for any fanfic/doujin writer/artist or just for the hell of it. Incredibly detailed, with lots of little manga panel bits thrown in there for good drawing reference. Does anyone else have either of these books, by any chance? They're a little tough to get if you're not in Japan, and unreasonably expensive, on top of that. I think if I knew how, I'd be willing to ship them out to people...for the good Samaritan-ness of it all.
Anyway, discussion abounds. Icons and books. Yay!

Date: 2006-09-03 11:45 am (UTC)Where in Japan are you? ^_^ Are you studying abroad or eikaiwa/JET? I'm always looking fpr new people to hang out with when I leave my bumfuct inaka town.
Anyway, are the books really worth picking up? I've been debating them, because I like having stuff, but generally my stuff lust is for plushies, doujin, figures and other stupid shit that you can pick up in animate.
Oh, and YOKOSO JAPAN!!! =D Isn't it loverly here?

Date: 2006-09-03 11:56 am (UTC)I've been here for a few weeks, but I'm here until May/June on a study abroad program with CIEE. I'm in Akita-ken (Yurihonjo-shi) - where are you located? And yes, Japan is quite lovely...but I'm from a small town and I have no sense of direction, so I still don't know my way around here ;-; In countryside-y areas like Akita, the Japanese addressing system just...doesn't make sense.

Date: 2006-09-03 01:46 pm (UTC)I'm in the ken next to Hiroshima-ken. Sandwiched nicely inbetween Hyogo-ken (Osaka/Kobe area), Tottori-ken and Hiroshima-ken. Nice area, but I live waaaaaaay in the inaka (countryside). Sounds like you might too.
But we should definetly try and meet up sometime! Japan Narurtards Unite!

Date: 2006-09-03 02:11 pm (UTC)I'd love if if you'd get it for me! I would be SO grateful. Of course, you'd have to wait just a teeny bit before you send it to me; the moment I'm turning 18 in two months, I'm setting up a PayPal account so I will be able to pay any debts I may have and get me some goodies. So then? I'll be delighted!
(House is absolutely the best. It's a shame I missed the entire first season. T-T)

Totally understand that you've got restrictions, but it would be cool to meet up at some point, if you get the chance. =D

Date: 2006-09-04 01:56 am (UTC)For serious, though, they are an incredibly useful reference. I always have them sitting around when I'm writing fanfic or doing RP planning...
