What's Before Time-Jump?

I have a Time-Jump related question: What's before Time-Jump?


There's that period of time from the moment the Naruto series starts, to the moment Naruto goes off to train with Jiraiya so he can save Sasuke. We conveniently call it "Naruto part 1," or "pre-Time-Jump."

Then there's that period of time from the moment naruto came back, to now and forever. We call it "Time-Jump," or "post-Time-Jump," or something equally simple that can get everyone on the same page.

But what do we call that period of time after the "pre-Time-Jump" ends, and before "post-Time-Jump" starts? (I'm not talking about Kakashi Gaiden, I'm talking about Naruto timeline.)

I could say, "after Naruto goes off to train with Jiraiya so he can save Sasuke," but that's really long. I just wish there was a simple, easy way -- a name -- to refer to this particular period of time in Naruto timeline.

So, is there such a word or phrase for between Part 1 and Time-Jump?

At the moment the only thing that immediately comes to mind is: the void.

Or perhaps something as "the training period" with serious emphasis on "the." I don't know but I understand where you're coming from.

I'm others have already coined it something or will be able to come up with something far better.

"THE training period" is good, but it'd be rather vague without the heavy emphasis on the "the."

I like "the void," but there are way too many "voids" in Naruto (what happened to Kakashi after gaiden, how was Naruto raised, etc.) that it could get confused with. It still sounds cool.

actually, my friends and I have come to calling it "DURING the time-jump," since the events we speculate on take place neither in part 1, or after Naruto returns in Part 2.

That sounds quite logical, actually.

But I can't get this strange pictue out of my head -- the picture of "Time" taking a jump and being hung mid-air because it is "during" the time-jump. (*giggle*)

That would make sense, and certainly everyone would understand if you say it that way; I just wanted to know if there was a way of saying it with fewer words. :)

Well, you could always call it 'those three years'. Or something like 'PTJ (Pre-Time Jump), DTJ (During time jump), ATJ (After Time Jump.)

It'd be nice if usage of PTJ, DTJ, and ATJ could be standardized. But the longer this discussion continues, the more complicated it seems.
The only problem is that PTJ could be mistaken for Post Time Jump instead of Pre Time Jump. (Who came up with idea of making prefixes both starting with P mean opposite things?)

Alright, instead of 'PTJ' we can go for 'BTJ' 'Before' time jump.

You can always make it the conversation starter for when you talk about Naruto with someone. You know, 'Who's you favorite character, pairing, how do you differentiate the times from before, during, and after the time jump?'

Also out of nowhere: BK; Before Kyuubi. (Though the first thought will be Burger king)

Funny -- I always call it, 'during the Timeskip'. And Naruto II would be Timeskip.
Uhm. Yeah. Doesn't make sense to me either.

Isn't it quizzical? Before we can even try to find a word for 'during timeskip,' we first have to define what "Timeskip" really means. When we say "Timeskip," do we actually mean "post-Timeskip," or "during that time time was skipping" a.k.a 2.5 years of void?

I understand why you'd want to say that, but there are lots of things Kishimoto-san (probably) doesn't want us to know. All the plot holes, inconsistencies, discontinuity, chaotic timelines and non-linear advancement of technology...

And I hope we get to learn more of that Part, though. (*hopeful*)

During the time jump is when the Great Konoha Orgy occurred. When Jiraiya found out he missed it, he wept for many days, because he missed getting it on with Tsunade and Shizune at the same time.

Naruto didn't care because there was no Sasuke.

That's why everyone's so happy to see them--The Great Konoha Orgy Part Two can happen soon. Cause there'll be a war and Sasuke and Orochimaru can join in.

Or saying "during the timejump" works too.
