Chapter 359: Discuss

As a sucker for character back story, I really liked this chapter.  It brought to light (somewhat, anyway) how Akatsuki recruits people.  It also, naturally, brought more questions, like how long has Deidara been in Akatsuki or, better yet, how long Itachi has been in the organization.  I'm wondering if he was in it before the massacre of his clan, but that's a theory for another time.

Anyway, I liked how this chapter was set up with the battle and the back story intertwining; it didn't seem so out of place as, say, Orochimaru's "white snake skin" thing at the end of chapter 344 (?).  It also made me laugh because of Deidara's seemingly naivete (I mean, what ninja goes around explaining their techniques to possible foes aside from maybe Naruto?  It didn't seem like he had been expecting Akatsuki to show up and recruit him...), but that made me appreciate his character all the more.  It also made me wonder how old he's supposed to be presently and at that time.

As an artist, I also really liked how he thought of Itachi (or at least the sharigan) as true art XD.

But, clearly his pride is going to be his own undoing with Sasuke.  D:

Speaking of Sas-cakes...  He should stay shirt/cloak/whatever-less.  At all times.  Yum.

I want Tobi to do something beneficial in the upcoming chapters, like, save his dear sempai from impending doom.

Here's to hoping Deidara doesn't get himself blown up/killed dead.
