Summary: Here is a guide to the thirteen most used code phrases in Konoha: "I got lost on the Road of Life"

Konoha is considered one of the most largest and powerful Hidden Villages in the entire Shinobi Continent. Of course, along with power and affluence, it acquires a somewhat…odd population. This population is comprised mostly of active shinobi who are so dedicated to their ninja duties that they have actually integrated code into their everyday language.
i.
Saying, “I was late because I got lost on the road of life” actually means I’m late because I really don’t give a shit about punctuality and your reactions are the coffee that keeps me awake. Hatake Kakashi, the legendary Copy Ninja, originated this code and he has passed along his teaching to his students. (So help us God)
ii.
Grunting, “Hn” either means yes, no, whatever, I don’t like you, I like you, go blow yourself up on a mine, thank you, lets have wild sex, and about a million other meanings. No one exactly knows who exactly created this code, but it has been noted that a small portion of the male population in Konoha use it constantly.
iii.
Calling your friend “Pig, Forehead, Teme, Dobe, Ugly, Dickless or Usuratonkachi” is merely a term of affection that expresses your admiration toward another. Tacking it at the end of a name also denotes friendship that is borderline brotherhood. In rare, but not unheard of cases it also tells the world, “I love blank.”

Telling some random stranger, “Come! Let us become Eternal Rivals” either means I really want to be your friend, come play with me or let’s become fuck-buddies.

Tacking the seemingly random word “Dattebayo”, “’ttebayo”, or “Shannaro” at the end of a sentecne, simply means, "Pay attention to what I am talking about fool", "I am so special that I don’t even talk like you normal people" or "I WILL FUCKING KICK YOUR PANSY ASS INTO THE NEXT GENERATION, HELL YEAH!"

Screaming, “I am not a fat-ass, I’m just big boned” is a traditional war-cry from the renowned Akamichis. This is often the last thing their victims hear before they perish.
vii.
“This is troublesome” is a phrase developed by the Nara Clan many, many years ago. In battle it means, “Getting rid of you will be tough. Insert sigh/groan. Whatever, I guess more than minimal effort is required.” In civilian territory it most often means, “Aw hell. More than minimal effort is required to survive (the wrath of troublesome females) right now.” Looking back, many Nara Clansmen find the meanings to be synonymous.
viii.
Screaming like there’s no tomorrow in battle, “Don’t you dare hurt my precious person, you fucking bastard! RAWRG!” usually means, “You, Person A, hurt Person C. Therefore you must be obliterated.” Quite simple really. Saying “You are my precious person” means, “I love you with all my heart and now can you move away from the line of fire? Thanks; I have to kill the bastard who hurt you.”

“I have the Will of Fire. -Insert rambling, fiery speech.- And so does the younger generation.” This is the code phrase that confuses enemies/victims the most often. All it truly means is that, “I have a will. And it is strong. And with it I will kill you. And my children have it too, so they can kill off your children.”

“That’s the promise of a lifetime.” I’m making a humungous promise to you. And I’m keeping it. Period.

“With the Springtime of Youth!” Created and used by both Maito Gai and Rock Lee, this code phrase is created for two reasons. One) to frighten the victims/enemies. (It has been particularly useful in interrogation, as shown when Ibiki recruited Gai for a short stint) Two) it is a loud proclamation of screaming, “I am young! I am immortal! And I am bad-ass!” In an extremely scary way. Unfortunately no one has caught the meaning behind the code yet.
xii.
“I was…on a research trip…” Infamous in its usage by one of the legendary Sannin, the Great Toad Hermit, its’ creator is actually Orochimaru, the Snake Charmer and one of the Sannin as well. When Jiraiya uses it, the meaning is, “I was checking the female bathhouses.” When Orochimaru uses it, the phrase means, “I’ve been checking out the male bathhouses. For young boys.”

“I love you.” This simple sentence means, "I really, really, REALLY like you and you’re one of my precious people and…are you willing to have sex with me? Because I am."

Date: 2008-06-24 05:44 pm (UTC)The "Hn, Dobe, teme" are all from the fansubs. So basically, it's japanese, butchered into a vague english kind of thing.
Hn is like a grunt that Sasuke uses. Dobe mean dead-last. I think. But, it's basically what Sasuke calls Naruto XP And teme means bastard, which is what Naruto calls Sasuke.
I guess today is one day.
