[Poll #1218786][Poll #1218786]
Ahahaha the Naruto Endings from Part 1 JUST fit inside the maximum allowance of poll options XD
Lucky~! Else for that particular question, Id've put a 'I don't fecking know' option-seriously <3

Alright, and if you would tell me why you selected your favorites- music, melody, and/or lyrics or maybe you just liked the video? 8D- I would really appreciate it. Of course, I would not mind hearing second/third favorites either as said earlier, so by all means, feel free- though it's not necessary for Shippuuden's Openings, really <3

If anyone cares about my personal opinion, since I'm not sure if I can vote in my own polls or not, my favorite OP from Part 1 is Yura Yura by Hearts Grow- ED is actually Ryuusei- Shippuuden OP obviously BlueBird, and I really adored Michi~ to You All as the second Shippuuden Ending. <3

That's it for my nosiness, I promise! Look forward to hearing back~! <3

Again, please report and and all inaccuracies plzkthxbai

Edit: AHAHAHAHAHA CONQUERED >DDD YOU MAY NOW VOTE! >D

I apologize Fujiwara-san, have a cookie <3

Part I:
OP - Snowkel, "Namikaze Satellite"
This song is what got me into my favorite Japanese band. I like the easy rock beat and melody of the tune, as well as the contemplative feel behind the lyrics. Even though people tended to hate on the animation sequence, I thought it fit the song quite nicely.
ED - Raiko, "Alive"
Ah-hahaha, most of the people I know thought this one was annoying because of the singing. I actually really liked the vocal work. Its uplifting melody hooked me on this one, too.

Shippuuden:
OP - nobodyknows+, "Hero's Come Back"
Don't usually like rap or hip-hop, but this one had an awesome beat and fit its story arc perfectly, I thought.
ED - Aluto, "Michi~ To You All~"
Just a beautiful, wistful song. I absolutely love the violin accompaniment. The animation sequence was kind of cute, too.

A lot of them thought the characters were drawn really weird in the first half of the sequence. I can see where they're coming from, but the "weirdness" looked liked stylized character designs to me and added to its appeal.

Kanashimi wo Yasashisa ni really has pretty lyrics, and the video is cool too.

I really love parade for some reason =) The dog version the most.

BlueBird , again for lyrics.

Mezamero Yasei, I really like the song. The video was boring though

Oh, how I understand your pain at the lack of Team Gai goodness!
But BlueBird has zero Team Gai as well ^_^; But the lyrics remind me very much of Neji, don't you agree?

oh, did you see the music video for Bluebird? It's sooo Neji-ish! With those bird cages and all...

Part 1 OP:
Fighting Dreamers: I just felt that song really captured the Naruto 'spirit' back then, plus the animation for that opening was awesome.

Part 1 ED:
Parade, while having crappy animation, remains to this day my favorite anime song. I have no idea why, but I love the melancholy feel of it. Wind is also perfect. I felt it really mirrored what was Naruto feeling inside.

Shippuden OP:
Blue Bird: I haven't really liked many of the openings in Shippuden (though the fanservice animations were HO SHIT *nosebleed* for me). I thought Blue Bird was pretty good, too bad it had to be used for FILLERS. UGH.

Shippuden ED:
Michi: Path to You All: This song...is just heartbreaking, especially if you listen to its violin version. And there's just something sad and wistful about it, like with Parade.

Fighting Dreamers
Wind
Hero's Comeback
Nagareboshi

Michi to You All leading the Shippuuden endings surprises me since it's "just okay". I got tired of listening to it a while ago but I keep pulling up Nagareboshi instead.

Wind is by far my favorite song from any of the categories.

Part 1OP:
Fighting Dreamers is stuck in my head more, otherwise it'd be a tie with Namikaze satellite.

part 1ed:
Wind is awesome, I like the instrumentals for the song.

Part 2:Didn't really watch because of waning interest...

Ah, I remembered that I liked part 1 op 3 as well - Kanashi wo Yasashisa ni ...So a three way tie.

You made me think too hard, Youko-nee!

...But anyway.

1st OP : Nami Kaze Satellite
(followed by Re:member [which got me into FLOW so much! ♥], Seishun Kyosokyoku [Youth Rhapsody], and YURA YURA)

1st Ed: Nakushita Kotoba
(followed by Parade. The animations for Speed and Mountain A Go Go Too were also really cool, but I didn't like the song that much. I haven't seen the last two yet since I never watched the fillers in the Japanese version. [English fillers = sadness.])

2nd OP: BLUE BIRD (obviousness)
(followed by Hero's Come Back, even though the guy with the "growly" voice needs to be killed with fire.)

2nd ED: Michi~To You All
(I think this was the hardest decision, since I also really love HOME MADE Kazoku, which sings Nagareboshi. But, Michi won me over.)

aw, i wish this was a check-box poll since i like more than one in each section >_>lol

Oh my gosh, as someone who pretty much only watches the OPED and watches them obsessively/repetitively, this poll is VERY near and dear to my heart!! D:

I voted for my favorites based on how many times I've watched the individual animation but I wish there were a poll where we could rank each OPED based on how much we liked it. I could really go on for ages... and ages... and ages. In fact I probably have way more to say about the individual OPED than I have to say about the entire anime series... D:

General Commentary

From: [identity profile] centimetre.livejournal.com
I.. really couldn't resist:

PART 1 OP
Rocks~ Hound Dog
I LOVE this opening. The first version of it where Naruto growls "COME ON" made me laugh and fall in love. D: And the 80s-esque song gets me every time. Animation quality was actually pretty good too although the content was pretty cheesy. Honestly, who didn't fall in love with that section where they're fighting the Log Ninja? I so want to bone Norio Matsumoto (who drew the key animation for that scene). And the cute fist bump at the end. ♥

Haruka Kanata~ Asian Kung-Fu Generation
This is my absolute favorite. Hands down. The music is incredible. The opening bits of animation were just.. jaw dropping. The spinning three man cells were a visual treat. The fight scenes, while were not all beautiful-looking, were simply gorgeous when they were: the kunai clash coinciding with the cymbal clash, and Hinata's jyuken moves in particular were moving. The ending bars too, were incredible. But my favorite little bit was Naruto going kyuubi. THAT was just unreal. And spectacular.

Kanashi wo Yasashisa ni~ Little by Little
The song is so beautiful but I HATE the vocals... D: Which is too bad. Because otherwise I entirely love this opening. It's incredibly beautiful and moving and the way the delve back into the individual characters' backgrounds and childhoods made the sequence especially heartwarming, especially as it showed them growing up and running towards the future. Also that part where Naruto shakes his hair out after stepping out of the stream seriously made me FALL SO HARD. Oh Norio Matsumoto please have my children.

GO/Fighting Dreamers~ Flow
This OP is a classic! I think everything about it is pretty much straightforward and obvious and requires no commentary, and I love it for the same reason everyone else loves it! :D

Youth Rhapsody~ Sambomaster
OMFG. When this opening came out, I heard some minor buzzing about it. I immediately went ahead and downloaded it (this was when I was on dialup!) I was NOT disappointed. This opening is GLORIOUS and I completely wanted to vote for it as my favorite but Haruka Kanata was just too good for me to pass up. D: Seishunkyosokyoku is an incredible piece of music. The opening bars are simply incredible. I don't love ALL of the animation in this opening but I do LOVE most of it. The chainlink fence Naruto and Sasuke; the angst and tension between them almost seemed tangible in those few shots. The yellow color theme was an incredible choice. Then in the woods with the genin five (well, Shikamaru was a chuunin...) the spinning shots were mindblowing. MINDBLOWING. And really, who could resist the gratuitious SasuNaru fanservice?! I know I can't. That ending shot w/ Naruto going kyuubi was also incredible. Overall, the animation matched the music really well. I actually enjoyed the first version of this more than the second version (I thought it was better-timed) but I certainly enjoyed the extra clips of Tsunade and Orochimaru.. the animation was very nice.

Commentary Part 2

No Boy No Cry~ Stance Punks
I couldn't stand the song and avoided this opening like the plague for the longest time. When I finally got over my fear of the song, I realized that I really liked the animation and theme in this OP. But I really can't ignore that song... so I still can't love it. Regardless, I still think it's one of the best openings, I just can't personally list it as a favorite because of the music. The dark, cloudy mood was a really nice fit for whatever was going on in the series at this time.

Nami Kaze Satellite~ Snorkel
This opening was ADORABLE. The song I found was mediocre, and the quality of the OP itself was at times wanting. This was the first time they actually pulled animation from the series and used it as flashback material in the OP itself... I felt like maybe they ran out of time and didn't manage to create the full animation for the OP. I think they ended up changing it and taking out the flashback sequences, though. The first few scenes had incredible, incredible animation: I believe it was Team Gai getting up and putting on their clothes? The ninja shoes, the headband tie, it was just.. a huge pleasure to watch. And then all the SasuNaru fanservice, that was nice too... Naruto staring at the sky while caressing Sasuke's headband was really just icing on the cake. And the group high-five at the end was incredibly adorable.

Remember~ Flow
Terrible. Hardly worth mention. I would prefer to forget this opening ever existed. Also I'm going to pretend that none of the altnernate, movie-version OPs ever existed... although TBH I don't even remember which songs they went with.

Yura Yura~ Hearts Grow
I fell completely in love with this OP from the moment I first saw it. I must've watched it repeatedly at least a million times; for the first two weeks after it came out I would pull it up every day and watch it on repeat (like, I was actually just WATCHING it) for 2-3 hours at a time, usually 2-3 times a day. At the time there was SO much that I gushed about, and I could really continue to gush except nobody cares.. D: Not that that's going to stop me from gushing anyway. 1) The song was beautiful. I really loved the song. 2) Naruto has no shirt. And he's muscular. 3) The silhouette style of animation is just.. incredible. 4) I don't CARE how many refs they used to get that kind of kung fu fighting to look that realistic, because the finished effect is wonderful. 5) I really didn't care for the shots of the boys in street clothes (?!) and I really disliked that shot of the girls looking like they were 8, but it wasn't enough to ruin the OP for me... and the boys in suits shot was pretty cute, if random. 6) Naruto sparring with Neji and Lee? Yes please! Although his abilities seemed unrealistically high for that scene where he whirls kicks against the two of them.. I don't mind *_* 7) Naruto turning to smile in front of Konoha was cute. ♥ 8) When Naruto is training and practicing his punches and kicks, not only did they look good, but that very last kick he made about 38 seconds into the OP matched up beautifully with the drumbeats in the music. And just looked incredible. INCREDIBLE. I must have rewatched those particular two seconds about a million times. It moved me. 9) Okay I know this is gross but watching this OP made me want to BE Naruto. 10) THE KUNAI SPIN. OMG THE KUNAI SPIN. I LOVED THE KUNAI SPIN I WATCHED IT A BILLION TIMES AND STILL COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW FUCKING AMAZING IT LOOKED. Especially where he grabs the kunai at the end. 11) Kojima Hirokazu (Yamato?) said something about how he drew the key animation for the kunai part. For some reason I thought I already knew that but now I don't know why I thought that... REGARDLESS.. that is AMAZING. Because I love that part. Also he said something about how he drew the kicks and something about Matsumoto Norio but I can't understand Japanese and was rushing to catch a train. D:::: SO I DON'T ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT HE SAID LMAO.

All the songs are made of win for me, except for Rocks, Alive and Mezamero so this is hard. And most, if not all, of my choices have a base in bias.

OP1: Youth Rhapsody. The song captured the conflict within both Naruto and Sasuke, the video fit perfectly the song's melody. The beginning of the song is so tense and well animated. The end of the video with KyuubiNaru and Sharingan Sasuke... ♥. My decision was between this and Yura Yura for 1st but Yura Yura lost because the song/video feels like the emo never happened (filler...) and the girls looked weird. When I saw the video though, my heart ached when Naruto smiled so heartwarmingly and the way that the video was like an old film in color, filmed by someone fiddling with the focus. The silhouettes, muscular Naruto and spinning kunai were cool, but I wanted some sort of sad there (probably due to me falling out of fandom cause of fillers). Followed by Go (song matches animation to a T and animation was cool even though there was barely, if any, action going on). Don’t like Rocks because it felt too old/Dragonballish for me, and the slow tempo makes the Engrish unbearable DX.

ED1: There was no choice, Nakushita Kotoba all the way. The first time I saw the ending, it made me cry, the quiet type where you just suddenly see all blurry and your heart and throat hurts. The video and song was too perfect. The melody, the overwhelmingly dark colors of the background combined with Naruto and Sakura’s light colors, the flash of Sasuke’s back as he leaves, Naruto closing his eyes, Sakura’s slow movement culminating to her crying in her hands and both sitting, desolately, in a boat in the middle of a quiet, dark lake, as Naruto looks up to the sky. All of this plus what was happening/had happened in VoTE made the ending so heart wrenching and beautiful, not to mention it captured perfectly how devastated Naruto and Sakura was, and still is, with Sasuke’s defection. Nakushita is way up there in my favorites, though the song makes me sad, rather than happy. Then Viva Rock because of the upbeat melody and the one color half pictures of Team 7, because it depicted the team so innocently and the lyrics. Wind would be 2nd, because it is pretty much Naruto’s song and the lyrics… but it’s not because of it’s hard to understand English (I love the message in the lyrics but the English just turns me off). Followed by Hajimete Kimi wo Shabetta because of the small pictures of some of the characters’ childhoods and the lyrics. Have never listened to the full song of Alive and didn’t like the ending because it bored me and the song was too loud whiney.

OP2: BlueBird because of the small squares (especially the eyes) and how they chose to reveal the other characters except for the filler ones (just cause they’re fillers). The song starts off sad but picks up, depressing to hopeful, lyrics fit Naruto and Sasuke, the gay. No second place because Hero’s Come Back and Distance are equal in my heart.

ED2: Chose Nagareboshi because of the accurately rendered chibi version of Naruto and Sasuke’s rivalry, Naruto looking up (beautiful picture btw) up into the sky and the hopeful lyrics/sound of the song. That and chibiSasuke+towel+stare/smile at Naruto. Michi is a close second because I fell in love with the world they created, the song is very romantic, the melody beautiful. Only lost because I liked that Nagareboshi was in the canon world. 3rd would be Kimi Monogatari because of the cute rendition of first meeting, ignored and ronery Sai due to Sasuke obsession, hoSai and upbeat song. Broken Youth would probably rate high once I’ve listened and watched it enough and Mezamero (song annoys me) and Sunao(haven't listened enough to get past slowness) are in a hate>like relationship with me because I liked parts of the videos but not the song.

Part I fave:

Opening - would be Go! because I like its super-hype sound/lyrics! and its memorable, although I like Kanashimi because of the video and Yura Yura. but Go! will be the first in my heart.

Closing - this is a rather difficult choice. Since I loved so many endings in the 1st part of Naruto. But Wind prevails!~ I love it 'coz it depicts Naruto's whole personality and it has an awesome video too! 2nd would be Hajimete Kimi to Shabetta because of the lyrics. 3rd would be Viva Rock! since I love Orange Range! ^___^

Part II:

Opening - would be Blue Bird! although I love Distance too but I adore Blue Bird's melody more! ^__^ I also love Hero's come back but Ikimonogakari's voice won over! ^__^

Closing - a rather tough choice too but Michi~to you all wins 1st place because of the perfect melody and lyrics, to top it all off, it has an awesome video!!! ^__^ Actually, I love all the endings! The only ending that I least like is sunao niji because it bores me! it makes me yawn... sorry... T__T

...Is there any way to find an upload for the anime versions of these, in .mp3? I only have up to the 8th opening (Remember) and 14th ending (Pinocchio) ...I only have Hero's Come Back from shippuden in .mp3/anime format. (For some reason I don't have the attention span for the full versions...O_o)

If it counts for anything, of the openings/endings I have heard, the only one that sticks in my memory is Yura Yura...and I guess I'm partial to Nagareboshi~ Home Made for an ending. Or Ryuusei~ TiA for the animation bits that went along with it. XP
