Comiket Advice?

So...we're going.. We're going to be jetlagged and spaced out as all hell. We're arriving Tokyo on the 14th, then planning to head over to Big Sight on the 15th. This is so new to us, I would greatly appreciate any tips and suggestions. Questions:

1. I'm kind of afraid of the lines. Is there a time when they're not so bad? We don't mind going later in the day, for instance, or only staying an hour or two. How long should we expect to wait? Is there cool stuff going on outside the convention center, like at cons in the States?

2. Anything we definitel yneed to see? Anyplace we should head for? We're really clueless, it just happens that we'll be in Tokyo on the 15th and thought we'd see how the real otaku live.

I think any time you go there's going to be a line (and probably even lines to get into lines). Just make sure you keep hydrated and wear some comfortable shoes.
