So I Was Rereading Kakashi Gaiden Last Night....

And something caught my attention.

 It that it sounds like the 3d great ninja war was basically a free-for-all between the countries, which means that

Minato (who's pretty damn cool) and Kushina (who's also pretty damn cool) were quite possibly NOT allies, but met as enemies on the battlefield.

Please tell me someone has wrote fic with that idea.

Because I think it's a pretty damn awesome possibility.

As far as I remember, Kushina was a fugitive from some Whirlpool country that got "annexed" in that war...

That's only speculation at this point.

Tsunade knew Kushina as a child though, so she would have been around Konoha much earlier than the 3rd war (well, depending on how long the war lasted).

Its basic and far fetched but It could work out. lets see. the first shot at naruto he actually was a Fox demon. lets say naruto's semi known mother was the 9 tails hidden as a female in konoha. Someone finds out(my guess would be oro or Sai's boss or both) So bad stuff happens, she is on a rampage and our 4th hokagi seals her away in one of the safest places for her. Its going in 4am and I am just typing this as it comes to me so it may be a tad loosely placed idea....

Possibly. I can see them meeting when they were younger, but I doubt any of them were gennin for long - there was a war on, plus I always thought of Minato and Kushina dying pretty young.

it would be interesting if the whirlpool country was near the what is presently the mist country. perhaps her country got annexed with the mist country. she left cause she didn't want to follow the mizukage :P

It's possible. I do like the idea of her being driven out of her village, either literally (it got taken over) or figuratively (she didn't like what the leaders where doing.)

it would be great plot for her if some how the mist country did something to her country, especially considering we now know madara is the mizukage and if thats how minato and kushina learn about madara being alive.

I always imagined Whirlpool and Konoha were allies of some sort, so I can't imagine the them as enemies, but I could totally see Kushina mistaking Minto as an enemy and beating a crap out of him until someone points out they're on the same side.
