A question regarding doujinshi...

Is it usual for there to be so much Kakashi/Iruka? (Kakashi/anyone, really, but that's obviously the most common.) Because I was browsing a site last night and at least 95% of the search results for Naruto doujinshi had to be Kakashi-related. Is it normally like that? Or is there something I'm missing, like KakaIru suddenly went out of style and everyone's trying to sell their stuff? :P

It was just craziness, was all.

I went through like 54 pages of listings there last night (at 50 results a page ;_; ) and found next to nothing that wasn't. One - ONE that had Gaara, but it wasn't very long and I kinda have to hold out for the longer ones for it to be worth it with the S&H fees. Nothing with Sai that I hadn't seen before.

It doesn't help that I like the less common stuff. -_-;

Agreed! (I'd much rather read KakaYama, anyway. I think it makes more sense than KakaIru, IMHO.)

I've heard rumors that TWO ShikaNejiShika doujins exist, but they're really expensive. I probably have a bat's chance in hell of finding them. T__T

Very little! And usually he's just kinda there while other pairings (SasuNaru) are going on. NaruSasuSai and NaruSai is what I see the most of, though it's not a lot. I own one Yamato/Sai.

KakaIru is still #1 Japanese Naruto pairing.
It's not hard to find other couples, I know some good doujinshi circles but usually they're overpriced or come in small quantities. If you're looking for a specific pairing, find an artist and stick with them until the end (at least if it's an odd/unusual pairing).

Well, I know where to find plenty of random things on eBay and other places if I'm willing to pay out the ass for it. -_- It just surprised me doing a Japanese search, is all.

Shipping is, yeah. :\ EMS is like 12 dollars or more, usually, but it's quick and it's insured. Some places only offer that, but a lot will offer regular shipping which costs about half that. (Or SAL, which costs like nothing but could take months to get to you.) I usually go with EMS just because I'm paranoid, but I've done other methods too.

I live in Texas and when I choose the EMS shipping option it's usually not that expensive. I think it really depends on how much you buy and what the seller is charging. Plus, you can get a tracking number so you can watch your package.

Well, you're right. It's not too bad compared to just regular overnight shipping in the US. I'm just a cheap-o, so I tend to cringe at it. ^^;

Haha. I tend to be pretty cheap at times, but if it's a good/rare doujinshi I want that's at a reasonable price, I'm willing to make sacrifices shipping-wise. I think the only time that I have ever turned down the EMS option was when the shipping was going to be more than the product itself. DX

God, yes. Sometimes you can find the same thing at another shop for less, though.

You actually find a much more varied selection if you buy from import shops or if you can find someone to bid for you in YahooAuctions Japan. You will see doujinshi from circles that aren't KakaIru or SasuNaru more there. On eBay, it is more likely that you will find more of the KakaIru and SasuNaru. It is also much more likely that you will get varied pairings if you buy a doujinshi anthology.

I own 2 ShikaNarus, 3 GaaNaru, 1 KankyGaa +GaaNaru (I'm not sure the KankGaa is romantic), 4 KakaNaru, 1 NaruSaku, 1 Team Seven general doujinshi, and then I have a lot of different pairings in the 40 or so anthologies I own (though they are mostly KakaIru and SasuNaru as well) BUT, I also have about 30 KakaIru doujinshi as well (I own a lot of Jerry Angel stuff).
