I'm sorry for flogging a dead horse

but, having just read chapter 418....

And wasn't Jiraiya in 'sage mode' when he 'died'.

Seriously, you cant say you still believe Jiraiya is dead....

If you don't know what the hell i'm talking about click here Jiraiya is not dead...

There is a very easy explination, Jiraiya was an "inperfect" sage. They directly dealt with that point. He had to become more "frog like" because he couldn't channel the powers as well, and THAT was called "remarkable progress."

Although my theory is Naruto isn't channeling this as perfect as first glace and we are going to find out more later on.

Did you read what I said or just wanted to ignore it?

Maybe an example would help. A black belt and a red belt can both be accurately said to "know" Karate. It doesn't mean they are on the same level.

Now that I read your replys to others, it just looks like you are trying to stir something up.

Believe what you want but this is simple enough to understand.

I'm done.

What Adaon6 said. Jiraiya's "sage mode" was incomplete. But if you look at Naruto's eyes and compare them to Granny-Toad, they look exactly alike.

I giggle because now Naruto looks like Gaara and the Kyuubi had some weird eye-child.

Yeah, considering he went head-to-head with Pain like that. And although Naruto has perfected the sage mode, I actually doubt he'd be able to face up to Pain immediately like that.

Also, don't worry about getting into arguments with me over fandom stuff. I'm too lazy to get into fights over stuff like this. ;D

just because he didn't feel the pain doesn't mean his body didn't take any damage.

Exactly. Up until now Naruto has been relying on others to teach him, to give him hints about how to further his training. He's essentially had Jiraiya and Kakashi as his babysitters since he became a genin. If you noticed, Fukasaku isn't necessarily giving Naruto hints, he's just supervising to make sure Naruto doesn't turn into a frog. I think this is showing that he is finally growing up and, now that he doesn't have anyone around to really mentor him, he can become stronger and finally be able to achieve chuunin status, fight Akatsuki, and maybe even bring Sasuke back. Then again, maybe part of his growing up process will help him realize that he can't bring Sasuke back just because he wants him back...maybe Naruto will have to defeat Sasuke.

Good point about the Rasengan training. However, Jiraiya is not the main character, thus his sensei dying while he was still training was not vital to his character development as it is with Naruto. Maybe Naruto will train even harder to avenge his teacher. Maybe Jiraiya's death will help Naruto grow up. Only Kishimoto really knows. I personally believe Jiraiya is dead...he not only lost an arm, but when he was out of sage mode he was stabbed with three or four of those black chakra disturbing sword dealies and he began sinking in water. If you want to believe he's alive, more power to you. But I think this is going to be just the same as people wishing Dumbledore was still alive and having "proof" of that as well.

I am with you hoping Jiraiya is still alive. He fell into the water to get away from Pein to prevent him from using his body. Who knows what might happen.

I also refuse to believe he's really dead until I see solid proof. I worry for Tsunade, though.

Then that would mean that Hidan can't really be dead, either.

I just reread that arc yesterday, and wasn't it precisely BECAUSE Jiraiya was not a fully fledged sage he needed both Fukasaku and Fukasaku's wife to help him go into Sage mode, which is why he summoned them? Fukasaku's wife left ahead of them and from that point Jiraiya was no longer in sage mode. So he didn't die in sage mode. Just pointing that out. If you still believe he's not dead, no problem, just don't try and convince me of it. e_e;
