So, my initial reaction to this week's chapter.

In this order:
OMG IRUKA IS DED.
OMG KAKASHI IS DED.
Yay Naruto!! <3
ACCIO BRAIN!

Was I the only one expecting Fukusaku to say: "When 900 years old you reach, look as good you will not. Hehehe." ?

On a more serious note, what was that black thing that Shizune was holding? Was it one of the piercings from the body that Jiraiya brought back? If so, that is VERY interesting. Might unlock some of the mystery that is Pein's six body technique.

And I can't get over Inoichi's sweet spy!daddy-ness. Okay, maybe not quite a spy, but Intel work nonetheless. Perhaps Ino will be taking after him instead of relegated to the "Special Kunoichi" force that so many fanfics have cornered her into.

Nothing real intelligent, I think. Just had to squee. Great chapter overall, in my opinion.

I thought it was. What I assumed was that Nagato's chakra was going into the bodies. This would explain the function of Pein's piercings.

::has a giggle fit:: no I didn't but now that you say it I can't get it out of my head (especially since Yoda was on my tv screen at the EXACT moment I read that comment!)

Yes that is one of the piercings (Shizune looks so different with her hair back I keep forgetting it's her!) meaning that they're "pierced" deep into the body. My take is that they're like remote radio receivers receiving commands from the main Pain, probably what animates the bodies as well. Pain is a puppet! a puppet I tell you! reminds me of the Akatsuki that Sakura took out.
About Ino, I can see her using her body to get close to targets because well, they're ninja, and even ones own body is a tool to be used but that's not ALL I see her as. Given the families unique talents I'm guessing that Intel work is pretty much a given for them and their members. Kinda like the Inuzuka are practically made to be tracking units (Yay Hana!)
