Chronology: need help.

Hi everyone.
I made a fanart some time ago - http://umaken.deviantart.com/art/Orochimaru-s-legacy-100627182 - and got a question which I cannot answer yet. The question was - how old was Tenzou, when he left Orochimaru's laboratory, and this question at once brings us another one - WHEN exactly did Orochimaru leave Konoha?..

If I'm not mistaking, Anko is the same age as Tenzou (and Iruka). We know, that when she became Orochimaru's apprentice, he still was in Konoha, and she was not a small baby. Which means that he fled when Tenzo wasn't a baby also... But how old was he?.. Was Minato already a hokage?

I don't have any answers for you but I'm eager to see if anyone knows. I've been DYING to find a really good DETAILED time line, I have so many questions! When did the Sannin leave the village etc etc (wont hold my breath though)

IIRC, Orochimaru had a shitfit after he didn't get named Fourth (and probably the fact that it was JIRAIYA's student who did didn't help) and really went crazy with his experimenting then, which wound up with that flashback to the raid on his little lab and thus his snakey ass getting tossed out.

So it was sometime between Minato getting named Fourth and the Kyuubi attack, since we know that after the Kyuubi thing Jiraiya left Konoha to follow Orochimaru and keep track of him.

Then we need to know when Minato was named Fourth... :)
And do we know for sure, that Jiraiya left the village _after_ the Kyuubi attack?.. I thought he wasn't there in that time...

I think Jiraiya left after the Kyuubi attack because he had the toad who held the key to reinforcing Naruto's seal. Ch. 370, especially page 10, has a lot about that.

Yes, that seems right...
If only the key-frog wasn't sent to him.
Because when Jiraiya met Naruto for the first time, and saw the seal, he seemed to see it for the first time in his life. When I read this chapter in manga, I thought that Jiraiya wasn't there, when the seal was laid...

If you don't mind me cutting in, I think Jiraiya left the village before the Kyuubi attack. If he had been around, he probably would've tried to help Minato fight off the Kyuubi before he went and sacrificed himself. It's entirely within the realm of possibility that could've been why he regretted not being able to save Minato when he was thinking over just about everything that had gone wrong with his life before he died. And as for the frog key, it's possible that because it's summoned Minato did to it what Jiraiya did before he died.

That is very close to what I myself thought. Minato fought with help from Gamabunta - I think that if Jiraiya was in Konoha he would join them...

Tenzou and Iruka are both 26 per databook three. First databook actually gives Anko's age as 24, although it's also the databook that gives Iruka the wonky age of 25 (where it should be 22, and has been corrected in databooks since), which would make her 28 in current manga time, two years older. That said, this *is* a part of the timeline I've never quite worked out for myself, either...

heronite has a couple of big essays on the chronology of Naruto. Here's the big one (http://heronite.livejournal.com/14164.html). She has links and caps of all the stuff surrounding Orochimaru's departure, but we've never been given an exact number.
