Hey guys!

I'm working on an ANBU cosplay, and I've got pretty much everything figured out except for the armguards. I have a few ideas, but I wanted to know if you guys had any suggestions. The only tutorial I could find used clay, which isn't all that appealing; my only idea is to steam cardboard, curve it, and cover it in cloth, with bands of elastic for the straps. Do you guys have any other useful ideas?

Thanks in advance, guys! :D

There was some discussion about how to do this on Cosplay.Com. It seemed fairly complex though (but maybe I am just unskilled at this crafts business, XD).

Personally? I'm just going to use some ANBU-esque arm warmers. But if you're looking for accuracy, I'd definitely recommend the above link.

And your cardboard idea sounds like it would work really well, actually! I can definitely see it working great.

I'd suggest craft foam for the armor. You can fit it to your arm, it's cheap, lightweight, and can take a decent amount of wear, and once it's painted it usually looks pretty good.

My other suggestion would be (if you can find) white leather/vinyl to make the armor out of that. I made my Suki (character from Avatar) armor out of leather, and got quite a few compliments on it.

Yeah just like the above comment you can find those foam sheets at WalMart or any other craft store for about a dollar each (they are 18X12 inches and come in multiple colors).

Hope this helps out a bit!

Google search for "cosplay armor." You'll find a number of tutorial sites that can walk you through a process with photos.

I've made some armguards by cutting up some large orange juice plastic jugs. The sides are about the right size. Then I painted them. I don't have any pics though. Here's a pic of some similar ones ( on the left) http://www.sonarstrange.com/images/plooj.jpg
