Story Title: Damnatio Memoriae
Chapter Title: III. The Road to Strength.
Rating: PG-13.
Genre: Drama, Action/Adventure, a bit of Romance later on.
Pairing/Characters: Hoshigaki Kisame/Uchiha Itachi.
Summary: May those who defy their fate be granted glory. A closer look at the relationship between Uchiha Itachi and Hoshigaki Kisame, and the trials and mishaps they encountered during their travels around the world.
Word Count: +/- 3 000.
Author Notes: Chapter three went through an unscheduled rewrite. Because I'm weird like that. Still, it's an amusing chapter for me, because I think it's fun to watch Itachi struggling to do something, as opposed to mastering it outright. Comments and concrit highly encouraged, it's the only thing keeping me sane.
Previous Chapters: [ I | II ]
( The most frightening thing about Kisame though, wasn't his teeth or his off-scale chakra levels or even his farfetched sense of humor. What truly scared Itachi was how easy it was to relax around the man. How often he had to remind himself that he could not, in fact, trust him with his life, because if Kisame found out Itachi's true colors - if anyone found out Itachi's true colors - then the charade would collapse on itself, and all the loss and sacrifices and doing the right thing - even if the right thing was horrible - would be in vain. )
