If that's so, he wouldn't have killed the messanger frog. And his plans are different from Madara's: Danzou wants to protect Konoha, turning it into a ol' style ninja village, while Madara wants the village disappear to return to the previous situation (all clans against each other)...
Danzou is a calculating bastard, Madara is a passionate bastard.

Anyway, I think that they somehow know each other, or had some connection... It could be related to Madara's previous status as Mizukage? After all Danzou is famous for training his boys a la Kirigakure...

Man, I'm randomly sad about Chouji's dad. Is it weird that I'm sadder about his (potential) death than Kakashi's? Not because I prefer one over the other, actually, but because I figure Kakashi as a character will get plenty of love and RIP tributes if he DOES die, and being so popular, he's much less likely to die now in the first place. I feel like Chouza's death (again with the "if it's real" caveat -- but I could believe his death being real much more easily) could easily be completely overshadowed here. And that's rather sad!

I hope I don't seem completely ignorant regarding this subject, but re: Kakashi's death? As I have been saying, I'll believe it only when I see it. Kishi loves fucking with people. And I think he especially loves tricking them into believing major characters have died. Second week in a row he's ending a chapter like this. Yeah, right. Kakashi may die. Who knows? But I'm still very, very skeptical.

Deva Realm Pain will, in all likelihood, be the last Pain to go, because that is his main body and probably the primary body to hold some kind of identity-giving attachment/emotional attachment for him. So when the fake spoilers had that Kakashi would destroy the Deva Realm, I didn't believe it and I doubt we'll be seeing that body go anytime soon. Some other bodies in all likelihood will be destroyed in this battle.

I am somewhat surprised by the amount of damage Kishi is letting Pain inflict, though maybe I shouldn't be? In general, the Akatsuki members have -- while seeming pretty bad-ass at first -- failed utterly before accomplishing a lot in the way of real destruction. I mean, I love Akatsuki and all, but c'mon. There's been a lot of FAIL among the group. Pain seems to be breaking this trend, at least for now. I guess it shouldn't be surprising, because he is "The Leader" and obviously intended to be a villain to be reckoned with and taken seriously (an effect which I think is taking hold), but Kishi often seems rather stingy about just how much damage he'll let any individual villain be responsible for. And what's particularly strange/noteworthy in this is that Pain -- unlike other villains, such as Orochimaru and Madara -- ostensibly has no personal vendetta against Konoha. He really is like a destructive force of nature: without a truly human name/identity put forth, sweeping into the village in these fake bodies. A malicious, and, well, merciless force of nature.

My prediction is that one of two things will happen. Actually, both of these things may occur.

1) Chouji will reach Tsunade. Somehow Tsunade will get involved. Tsunade will die, but not without causing Pain some serious damage (think Sarutobi and Orochimaru).

2) Madara will recall Pain once one of them realizes Naruto isn't there. Because didn't Itachi or someone once mention wanting to seal the bijuu in order? Well, now the 8-tails has escaped, effectively fucking their order up. Sasuke has failed Madara. And Pain isn't accomplishing the goal he was sent there to accomplish. There's precedent for Akatsuki members calling one another to return in the midst of battle (Pain with Hidan and Kakuzu), and this would give Kishi the loophole of getting Pain back out of the picture while still having Pain technically undefeated (overall) so that Naruto can ultimately be the one to defeat him, sometime down the road.

Because, do you really think Sasuke and Pain will be running around wreaking havoc on Konoha at the same time? I somehow can't picture this. Pain pretty much needs to be gone by the time Sasuke gets there, and I don't see Pain "losing" because that'd crush his z0mg mystique. And since this manga tends to revolve around Sasuke (let's face it), then it'd make sense for Pain's whole invasion to pave the way for Sasuke to come there and believably have room to inflict some damage. If Sasuke had gotten to Konoha first, he would've been defeated, but with Konoha in this weakened state, he actually stands a chance of causing some severe problems.

Of course, I may be way, way off with these predictions, but I think they would account for 8-tails escaping (and that whole arc in general) -- why Kishi might have wanted to write it that way, as well as why Pain and Sasuke headed towards Konoha around the same time despite the fact that both of them being there at once would probably be overkill. Finally, if Madara did ultimately call Pain back, it'd probably increase the (already obvious) tension between M and Pain, since M formerly made a big deal about being able to vouch for Sasuke and he even told Pain that failure on his part would not be accepted.

Edit: If it's any consolation, for all you people who are so sure Kakashi is dead -- I honestly can't remember any character dying from "chakra loss", despite that Kishi always brings this up as something potentially death-inducing. I don't really buy it. Chakra loss? It's usually something a bit bloodier than that. The closest I can think of is what happened to Itachi, and we were supposed to believe Itachi had some kind of internal disease, in addition to pulling out about 3000 random jutsu. Kakashi is nowhere near that point yet. Keep the faith!

No, really, no way. I have a hard time believing that Kakashi is dead because honestly, who would kill one of the most popular characters of the whole manga? It'd be a damn stupid decision: I can almost hear the sales dropping.

Also, if someone's going to die soon besides Chouji's dad, my money's on Tsunade. She's the only one left of the old trio, and it'd be fitting for her to sacrifice herself for Kakashi (or any other ninja, or the whole village).

I think it is HUGELY important that, of all the times he's ever been close to death or in a tight spot, this is the only time he's mentioned Obito and Rin.

There's gonna be some magic saving throw for him. He won't die, but I think the entire situation is going to be a trigger for his development.
