Kakashi's face

I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed, but, given the amount of ubiquity in the whole "no one knows what Kakashi looks like under his mask" theme, I just realized something as I was rereading Kakashi Gaiden.

In Chapter 241, as Rin is patching Kakashi up, he has no mask on. Which means it can be implied that Team Minato knew what Kakashi looked like with no mask on! As can be seen here, Kakashi's mask is connected to his shirt -- he is putting it back on in the top center panel.

A lot of people commonly assume that no one knows what Kakashi looks like under his mask. Clearly, that's not the case!

I did notice that during the Kakashi Gaiden.
I'm sure Jiraiya and Tsunade have seen it as well.
But maybe, since he became so traumatized about all their deaths, he doesn't show it to anyone anymore. >_<

in the filler Kakashi mask episode back in Part 1, the Ramen guy and his daughter got to see Kakashi's face and they were *both* blushing. He must be pretty hot.

Actually, that part of the episode isn't filler. It's part of a mini-chapter Kishimoto made. So Ayame and Teuchi really did see him and go all heart-eyed.

Well, think of it this way:
In the Narutoverse people are very close in looks like their fathers. Considering what happened a few chapters ago I think we have a good idea of what he looks like.

Mm, this is true, though some features are sharper or softer. Some people also look more like their mothers -- Sasuke looks more like Mikoto than Fugaku. Kiba looks like his mom! So on and so forth.

A lot of people mistake Kakashi for his father in some way (like Chiyo seeing him and trying to kill him), so I would assume that the hair and the facial structure, if nothing else, does share quite a bit of resemblance.

Mm, thought so too, but if you look carefully at his father's face and at Kakashi's shadows of a face, it doesn't quite match up. I've seen manipulated images of Kakashi's face done by fans where they essentially erase his mask by using the outlines of shadows Kishimoto gives us -- I think those would probably be closer to Kakashi than Sakumo! Especially as they're actually Kakashi's real topography. xD;

Sure, we might be missing a scar or four, but... XD;

I noticed that the first time I read the KG arc... I just thought it was funny that his summons (in the five-page omake Kishimoto did) couldn't remember what his face looked like. I mean even with dog's notoriously short attention span that was just weird. He really must only let people he trusts see him maskless.

Wow, that's an epic discovery - I thought that I knew the canon quite well (not the anime, or the data books), but this is something I haven't ever noticed. I wonder if even Kishimoto realized what he did.

(On the other hand I wonder whether the people at the hospital have seen Kakashi without his mask.)

Yeah, I remember this. I always wonder why people think Rin and Obito didn't know what he looked like this was major epic to me. Considering that Rin was the medic-nin of the team, logic says, if the mask is part of the shirt (basically a really high turtleneck XD) then she would see it, even if Obito didn't. So yeah, her crush is totally understandable.

And Kishi probably made it a flyby on purpose. He does add little things to his chapters sometimes where we don't notice for months/years and then go: "HOW COULD WE NOT NOTICE??" XD Oh Kishi, you sneaky dog. XD

Honestly, I bet a reasonable amount of people know what his face looks like. It's just not an efficient way to go about your life worrying about covering your face all the time... I'm sure some of the other jounin have seen it (on a mission, out for drinks...). I always figured that he just liked driving his students nuts about it.
