Itachi, Sasuke comic-con figures.
Apr. 18th, 2010 09:37 pmIs anyone interested in the Comic-con Sasuke and Itachi figurines?
I bought a set from someone on eBay, but they packaged them poorly and the wires got screwed up; they just threw all the pieces in a large box. They refused to reimburse me and at this point, it's probably easier for me to resell them. (I had to hunt down a functional pair because I'm anal-retentive).
They're worth about 100$-150$ new. Because they don't light up anymore and don't have their boxes, I'm asking maybe 70$.
Everything is included except the boxes. I'll even send the wiring and light bulbs, but I don't think anyone will be able to work it out (it looks like one of the wires had been cut). Otherwise, they're in perfect condition.
They're about 7-8 inches tall, have functional ball points at various places (different on both), and are highly detailed/accurate.
I fail. The lighting in my room is too light for flash, too dark for no flash.

PM or comment if you're interested. Price is negotiable.

Date: 2010-04-21 02:42 pm (UTC)Japan is awesome, just the uncertainty about having to call the airline and watch the new everyday is getting old really fast... Still, lots more time to hit Akihabara etc. is never a bad thing.

Date: 2010-04-22 01:07 am (UTC)I want to go this summer. Fully planned to but financial troubles have complicated matters. Still a good chance I'll say fuck it and go anyway. XD I know I'll never have the time when I'm older.

Date: 2010-04-22 09:26 am (UTC)I would highly recommend it; I have been here for 3 months after planning to come here for about year and a half, and I too nearly reconsidered due to the economy and maybe not ahving a job to come back to and all that blah, blah grown up stuff.
However I didn't cos I am stubborn and have found that every single thing I have chosen to do, even if it was expensive, far away, or needed me to get up super early has been totally worth it. I have written some journal entries about my experiences, with links to photos etc, so feel free to check them out if you want some inspiration or whatever.

Date: 2010-04-23 01:17 am (UTC)Are you staying in Tokyo? I plan on staying at a guesthouse there for 4-6 weeks. I originally wanted to travel (spend a week in Tokyo, a week in Hokkaido, etc etc), but this is my first time traveling alone so I decided that some stability would be best.

Date: 2010-04-23 05:50 am (UTC)I travelled from Hokkaido down thru Tohoku to Tokyo (took about 2 weeks), where I got a "gaijin house" from an agency called Sakura House (you can find them on google really easy - there is also Oak House, which is basically the same but spelt different.) My room was in Shinjuku and I shared the kitchen and bathroom with 3 other bedrooms. I had japanese style room with a futon, but you can get western beds too, which also had a balcony, free internet, a TV and good wardrobe space.
The awesome thing about Japan is the rail pass; they are cheap and the rail network is so good that you can get to most places from Tokyo in a few hours as long as you get up early, and get back the same evening. But then if you want you could have an overnight somewhere and just take a small bag, leaving the rest of your stuff at the flat, you can do that too.
Hokkaido is awesome - lots of ppl miss it as its not really "Japanese" - yno with kimonos and temples etc, but its well worth it - the food is epic and the ppl are superfriendly, and the natural views/parks etc are amazing. I went in Feb when there was thick snow and the Ice festival in Sapporo, but I also would like to go back in the summer when you can hike and the flower plantations are in bloom.

Date: 2010-04-24 04:32 am (UTC)How do you like SakuraHouse???? They're the ones I plan on staying with. I'm just kind of stressed because I can reserve now, but they won't give me a listing of available rooms until 10-15 days before I leave. I'd kind of like to have a set place before that.
Dumb question about SakuraHouse... do Macs work on their internet? Their website says you need to bring your own PC to go online, but I can't tell what they mean by that... XD
I'm a little confused about the rail pass, I admit. That's the Japan Rail Pass, right? So I can use that to go all over Tokyo? Their public transportation is so insanely complicated. When I lived in Rome, I paid 30 Euro (or 20 even) a month and rode on all buses and subways for nothing. Trains out of Rome cost money, but that was all. I couldn't find anything like that for Japan.
Yea I'd love to travel everywhere. But again, first time alone. So I think staying put would be best.

I'll write something about Sakura House soon when Nii-san isn't waiting for me so we can eat ...

Date: 2010-04-24 03:18 pm (UTC)I registered with the quick reservation thing and got some emails about places before then, but I also kept a look out on the website each week and when I saw a place listed as "available from the xx/xx" which was just a few days before I wanted it, I emailed them and requested it and they gave it to me. That was about 2 months before I wanted it.
When you have a place you have to give a minamum of 3 weeks notice to move out, so they can put it up for the next person from about then, at the latest.
As for the internet, they have wireless router for the house or a LAN cable in each room (should say on the property details), so as long as your Mac (laptop?) has a wireless card you should be fine. They give you a piece of paper with the WEP key & password etc on it so you can connect the first time, and most laptops/PCs will have a "automatically connect to this network when available" tick box on their network thing, so its pretty easy from then on. They don't provide a common PC or anything like that.
As for being alone, I wouldn't worry about it too much in Japan; its a really safe place - most people don't even bother to lock up their bicycles even in central Tokyo, and I have seen Pizza delivery guys leave the keys in their cars/bikes when they go into a building. People are really friendly, if you ask for help or directions people will try to help you even if they don't speak English. One time I asked a bus driver which stop was best for my hotel and he said the bus didn't go that far - at the last stop he told me to stay on after, and then when everyone else had gotten off he drove me right up to the door! And thats just one example I could give of how nice Japanese people are.
Obviously, you don't want to wave cash around or get too drunk on your own or tell strangers your PIN number (^__*), but I feel more safe here walking around or on the subway at night than anywhere else I have been, and I have travelled quite a lot.
Do you speak any Japanese?

Date: 2010-04-27 12:49 am (UTC)That's good about the wireless. I live online (seriously...it's horrible) and I can't imagine a month without it, regardless of where I am.
I'm not worried. My parents are. My biggest hurdle in going will probably be convincing them. Right now they say they're fine, but they don't believe me that I'll actually go. I want to buy my ticket in the next week or two, so it's getting kind of awkward. XD I went to Italy with my class for a while a few years back and had a breakdown, and they think the same thing will happen. They don't realize that last time, that was the first time I'd ever traveled or been away from home for more than 2 days. I've been away 3+ months now in another country, so I think 4-6 weeks will be okay (and I'm older anyway). I figure if worse comes to worse, I'll come home. But I want to try.
I have about 1 semester worth self-taught, and I am taking another semester class (it's one of those 6-week intensified ones) before I leave this summer, so that should be enough for me to get by I think. I can read Hiragana and Katakana already, which is a start reading-wise.

Date: 2010-04-23 05:55 am (UTC)Or just Naruto-based squee-age. Me and Nii-san tend to flap about it like 14 year old girls - very OOC - but nevermind...

There is some - there is far more SasUKExKakashi and SasuNaru, but the amount of KakaIru is just staggering! Most Akatsuki/non-Konha stuff tend sto be KakazuHidan. Or so I've found.

Date: 2010-04-22 01:12 am (UTC)I recently bought this: http://hi.baidu.com/h0rus/blog/item/937045c38256b05fb319a8de.html
It's MadaIta with a little ItaSasu on the side. <3 I think it's the only Madara-centric doujin out there.
Last con I went to here in America was ALL KakaIru, 4 KakaSasu, and 2 NaruSasu. So I had to buy all the KakaSasu. XD I have some KakuHidan. Rauhreif kind of owns that fandom and her stuff is really good (she has a few looooong, as in 200-page-long doujin about their history together that are very sad). But yea I was hoping for some ItaSasu. No such luck.
