Slip-up or Symbolic?
Dec. 14th, 2010 02:19 amI was merrily making icons from chapter 485 when I noticed something I had somehow overlooked the first time around...
Everything seems in order. Sasuke: Chidori. Naruto: Rasengan.

But then. Sasuke: RASENGAN. Naruto: CHIDORI. WHAT IS THIS.
Next page, back to our regularly scheduled program.

I was all ready to believe this was merely something Kishimoto and co. had overlooked before the chapter got sent to Jump, but a friend of mine thinks it might be intentional, because of the dialogue - a symbolic representation of standing in each others' shoes.
Thoughts? Has this chapter been put into a volume yet? If so, maybe somebody could confirm or deny...anything.

Date: 2010-12-14 08:08 am (UTC)I would be inclined to think it's intentional - it mirrors the dialog in that box, and they've also swapped sides of the frame: in the top and bottom panels, Naruto is on the right, but in the middle, Sasuke is. So the techniques don't change sides - just the users, echoing the idea that they could be in each other's shoes. It's kind of a nifty visual detail.
