Not a big fan of this type of chapter, but enjoyed it nonetheless. It's nice to get a break from talk no jutsu. This is one of those chapters I will enjoy more animated. Had to read it twice to get a better idea what was going on.

I don't know how the fight will end up, but I'm sure it's going to last at least until ch. 600. I am also expecting for it to get a lot more exciting as Bee becomes more involved and the gang are able to figure out how to successfully attack Tobi. Watching their strategy evolve will make this more interesting for me.

And then some dudes were punching each other, basically. I wasn't that into this battle, it's confusing and nothing especially exciting seems to be going on. Also how are Gai and Kakashi even keeping up here...?

Also also, is it just me, or is Tobi's mask weirdly tall? Just based on where the eyeholes are, it seems like his forehead is enormous.

Gai is stupidly fast (albeit perhaps not bijuu fast), and Kakashi staying back doing eyeball jutsu or using raikiri to shorten the distance.

No, the proportions are right (http://www.artyfactory.com/portraits/drawing_techniques/proportions_of_a_head_1.htm). The eyes should be at the about halfway mark (http://www.howtodrawmanga.com/howtodraw/jdillon/head.html), even with manga-esque features. Kishimoto actually draws in a slightly more realistic style, so the eyes shouldn't be way off. Tobi's mask just looks really large because we don't see any hairline.
