Also, what's with Deidara's "umm" after every sentence? Not that I'm complaining, it gives him character haha. I'm really starting to like Deidara now. The fact that Itachi was being a bitch also intriged me, did he really want Naruto for himself?

I also liked the fact that Itachi was being a bit bitchy. Everyone was waiting for a definite answer, and Itachi said, "This is what he'll do...now I'm going to storm off in a bitter rage."

I think Itachi wanted to catch Naruto himself since Deidra and Sasori were allowed to capture the jinchuuriki they were originally sent after (Gaara). Itachi probably wants his chance to get Naruto since getting Naruto was originaly his and Kisame's mission. Itachi and Kisame failed at getting Naruto the first time, though, because of Jiraiya.

I think--just conjecture on my part--but I think that Itachi resents having other people touch things he's decided are his. He might not care, but he's possessive.

There's a really good discussion about sociopaths at the beginning of a book I listened to awhile back theorizing about Jack the Ripper's real identity. It's really intriguing...and kind of sad how many of my favorite characters are sociopaths. Not just Itachi, but Muraki, Aizen, Seishirou-san, Gendo, Akio-san...

I just like characters who are ambiguously evil. They don't have to be sociopaths necessarily. There's just something fascinating about them. Especially if they're well written, because then they have this internal logic that makes sense, but is still totally alien, because it's not like any normal-to-good person would ever churn out.

Villains in alliances are always gonna fight for whatever personal advantage they can get and if they can run off with the whole pie they will. I mean seriously, these are the guys who always got bad marks for Sharing in kindergarten. So I think Itachi did have some personal motives for the kyuubi.
