A lot of people are complaining over how the Japanese words are pronounced in the dub, when they really have no reason to.

I could understand the cause for complaints if Hokage was pronounced Ho-cage, or if Sasuke was pronounced Sa-SOO-kay, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Though I haven't actually viewed the dub, most of the complaints seem to be centered more on incorrectly stressed syllables, which is a moot point.

Though my experience in Japanese is limited, I've observed that most Japanese words stress on the first syllable. On the other hand, many English words stress on the second syllable, especially when the word has three syllables in all. Hence, the pronunciation of Na-ROO-to.

Though many people may not realize it, it takes a considerable amount of conditioning for most Americans to naturally stress syllables in a different way, even with foreign words.

As long as they generally pronounce the Japanese terms correctly, I don't see what the big deal is. It's silly to expect the English VAs to pronounce the Japanese words without some sort of accent.

Sorry to bog down all of your Friends Lists with more Dub garbage, but hopefully this post will help quell at least some of the complaints.

Hello! ^^; Er yeah. My first forays into digital art (I've always worked with traditional art before) yielded two duotone images of Sasori and his favorite-est toy. :3 A bit of spoiler warning as far as 266 is concnerned though, for those who aren't up-to-date.

( "It was a pain to bring this into my collection..." )

( "...but all the more why this one is my favorite." )

It is very hard not to <3 these Sunagakure shinobi, hmm?

Since we heard that Naruto was going to start on Toonami, a few friends and I came up with the idea to start an AIM chatroom where people can go and talk about the dub. The idea came from another community we're part of that does the same thing for another series. It's been a lot of fun and we wanted to try and do the same with Naruto. The chatroom name is "narutodub" and it is accessible through AOL Instanst Messenger.

We just wanted to have a place where fans could gather to react to the dub eps as it airs, real time reaction instead of going back and forth in an LJ thread of reactions trying to reply in a dozen different places to similar comments by different people or something like that.

We've discovered through experience that the AIM chat room limit is something like 36 people, so whenever there's too many people, feel free to enter "narutodub2" and so on.

Now HOW do you get into the chat room? SIMPLE! Firstly, you have to have either AOL or AIM. I have AIM, so I'll explain what I do: I have my on SN on my Buddy List for easy access. I click on my SN, right-click to open a menu, going down to "Send Chat Invitation," and THEN, on the window that pops up, you'll see in the 3rd (and last) field "Chat room name." Change the name in that line to "narutodub" and hit send. And BAM! You're there! If that doesn't work, try again, or maybe the room is full and you should try again but use "narutodub2" instead.

REMINDER: When the room is FULL it is hard to keep up with what's going on, so try not to spaz and SPAM too much. Lots of near monosyllabic responses at once leads to a WHOLE bunch of text to suddenly see scrolling up the screen, and to those new to chat, it can be VERY intimidating (and headache inducing).

SUGGESTION: Please keep use of bold text, background colors, and hard to quickly read font styles (and colors) to a minimum. While they may be pretty and convey your personality, when in crowds, simble tends to be better for the sanity of all. (Not that we're all that sane, but the whole world doesn't need to know that.)

Okay, how about this...

It's aired. It's been dubbed. It's over and done. Hate it or love it, as they say. We can all move on. Start new topics and let's not flood my friends page by bringing this one up again.

Oh, and that includes bitching about other people's opinions! You think your opinion is right. They think their opinion is right. Whatever. You're not going to change each others' minds and you're not going to listen to each other anyway. And stop with the "Oh, you XX-fans have it so much better than we OO-fans". Whatever! It happened. Get over it. All of it.

[edit]: And to answer the "Why are you bitching about the bitching question," I am doing it in an effort-- probably futile since few people seem to read back on the community page-- to get people to stop rehashing points that have already been made and to stop bashing other people's opinions, as it only leads to more "ZOMG I'm RigHt Ur WrOng" flame wars.

So... how about those nose [bleeds
