Since Toonami's designers have never heard of cross-platform compatibility, I am unable to view the new Naruto dub trailer on my Mac, and they seem to be hiding the path to the file with JavaScript. I don't know if anyone was able to download it, but if someone could upload it I'd totally love them.

In addition, anyone have laying around that reeeeally old Flash movie narrated by the dude with the Singaporean accent making fun of Naruto fans; the one that I -believe- coined the term "Narutard"?

So we all know why we already don't like the dub despite the fact that we've only got a few seconds worth.

But I actually didn't find it discouraging at all.

1. They KEPT the original names! And they kept the word Hokage and Jutsu! Which means that they are more likely going to try and keep other Japanese words like full name techniques and words like sensei.
- Sure I had problems with the pronunciation. But then again, we all can't be fluent in Japanese, right? It an accent, almost everyone has one. It's not like they've been taking Japanese for years or been watching the subs 100 episodes straight like some of us.

But they're trying. Props to them

2. Did anyone notice... BLOOD! AND KUNAI STICKING OUT OF IRUKA! It wasn't all cut out! Rejoice!

3. They kept the original "tension" background music. So, perhaps that means we can keep some of the old soundtrack too. Maybe I'm being too hopeful, especially since I don't think they'll keep the OP and ED (gaining rights to those songs are completely different from gaining rights of the actual show).

4. I *liked* Naruto's voice. Sure, I liked the other one much beter, but I'm not going to expect her to just learn English and start dubbing for Naruto in America. Of course it's going to be different. I'm just glad she did a decent job in the few seconds I saw her. She sounded like a confused twelve year old boy. Here's to hoping she can sound loud and obnoxious.

Iruka's was meh. And Mizuki's... we'll I didn't like at all. But hey, he only shows up one episode anyway.


So, not all is too bad in the distance. Right?

EDIT: HAKU IS A MALE IN THE DUB~!!!!! OK? GOOD!

Ok hes the thing im not getting. The fool tazmo is begging for money now cuz of the server problem at narutofan.com yet hes got a xbox360 as a prize for donating money? Those things are like $400. PLUS theres the ipod minins hes given away for free So What was the point of narutofanplus now? Wasnt that suppose to cover some server problems or just give him money for no reason at all?

Decided to throw out some fanfic-bits for those of you who are bored in a clever ruse to hide my dub ranting; both are short, nothing particularly brilliant, and old. Sorry- no challenge response.

As for the dub...well, I'll pray for the fandom. More. It's going to get more crowded in here, heh.

That aside, I think it's too early to judge the VAs' performance from an early episode trailer, as it takes some time for them to grow into their roles, but...eh. The pronunciations are going to grate on our nerves greatly, yes, and the misspellings on the website are probably due to our being accustomed to what the more direct translations from Japanese are, but I'm going to play devil's advocate despite not normally liking dubs.
In short, I think a good thing to keep in mind for all of us is to watch a few episodes and consider the voices separately; even if they're different from the originals, that might not always be a bad thing. (One example is Fullmetal Alchemist.) Give 'em a chance before flying into fits of self-righteous!oldbie!rage...though that might be hypocritical of me to say. I might end up raging.

(Wonder how much they'll edit the episodes. Ow.)
