In the July issue of Shonen Jump that should be hitting storeshelves all over North America soon they have included some more "information" on the Naruto anime series, promising to provide us with more every month until it's ultimate anime debut on Cartoon Network this Fall. The talk of Naruto in this particular issue is rather interesting, infact they give us a good reason to be excited that Naruto is coming to North America, all the Naruto merchandise you can possibly want. Currently they are just showing everyone the Naruto products that are available in Japan right now an asking us to write in to them telling them what we want. It looks like we'll have to wait a bit to actually do that though, since they haven't created the webpage they advertise in the magazine. I know what I want, do you?

There's a Toronto Naruto Photoshoot planned for June 25th in High Park downtown so expect a batch of cosplay photos from me after then ^_^ If anyone lives in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and want more information, http://forums.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=56704 is the cosplay.com thread planning the event. Please read the first post for all the details! For those of you not in the GTA, I highly don't recommend making an effort to travel far for this. This is just a bunch of us being a little too obsessive with our fandom XD

Ummm...I'm rather confused right now. According to Jump Magazine Naruto is coming on CN this September, but during the preview of Naruto on CN, they said it's coming on this Summer? =/ Does anyone know which is accurate? Thanks!

Character Names

In all the time I've spent following Naruto, one thing has always baffled me: the way in which character names are written.

Let's take Naruto, for example - in the manga, and the series logo, his name is written in katakana. Yet in episode 50 something, when he signs the frog-summoning scroll, he writes his name in hiragana.

Also, think about Sakura's name - that's a Japanese word, definately not a foreign one, so why isn't it written in hiragana?

Just curious, is all. =)

One really that truly worries me about US Naruto...

A lot of your are worried that they will ruin Naruto by doing really bad dubbing...

Some of you are worried that they are going to edit the series to the point where it isn't the same thing anymore...

But there is something that I am REALLY worried about the US version of Naruto...the music.

Naruto features some really, really awesome music. The opening and ending themes are some of the most inspired songs ever heard on an anime series, offering everything from J-pop to pop rock and even some funky stuff here and there. What worries me is that they are gonna butcher these great songs and replace them with really generic rock/rap music...

Imagine that instead of hearing the soothing and sad "Wind" piece or the awesome "Far off distance" you hear this...

"NARUTO! He's an awesome guy!
NARUTO! He's a super ninja!
NARUTO! He is really cool!
NARUTO NARUTO NARUTO NARUTO NARUTO NARUTO HEY!"

All set to some really bad and cheap orchestration, vocals and music (think the US Dragonball GT theme song..or the original DBZ theme for that matter...That's one aspect that will get me mad if the screw it up.

So what do you think? Agree, disagree?
